Engineering Projects Co-Op

Summary:

The Voith location in Austell GA, provides service to rollers (rolls) used in the production of paper. We are mechanical shop that repairs, restores, refurbishes and provides Engineering upgrades to such rolls.The Engineering Intern assists in planning, researching, developing and implementing solutions for the shop floor or engineering projects.

Responsibilities:

Operations Excellence projects:

  • Concept development and design

  • Prototyping (if project allows it)

  • Supplier sourcing and quoting

  • Supplier selection

  • Order Material and components

  • Provide work order and design for fabrication if required

  • Proof of concept

  • Execute improvements and corrections

  • Implementation

Integral Management System (IMS):

  • Assists in the creation of Work Instructions, Job Safety Analysis, Risk assessments, other documentation required by the IMS

  • Assist on updating communication boards

Engineering

  • Assist engineers in creation/modification of CAD drawings

  • Assist engineers in cost reduction activities

  • Assist engineers in part procurement

  • Participation in engineering process improvement activities

Requirements:

  • Proficient with computers applications MS Office suite, CAD, including electronic document control and distribution

  • Experience with Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Ergonomics

  • Exceptional multi-tasking skills and ability to independently manage multiple tasks.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Engineering major, minimum GPA 3, junior / senior

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand for an extended amount of time, walk and reach with hands and arms. Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
