We're looking for an experienced Director of Legal Operations to join our Legal team. You will work as an individual contributor to set a strategic vision for a world-class legal operations department and can turn that vision into reality. You will lead strategic change across the Legal team and throughout the company through data management, data insights, and scaling Legal to meet the needs of a high-growth company.

You would help the Legal team work smarter and faster with demonstrated proficiency across technology products, contracts management, vendor management, eBilling, litigation management, knowledge management, and CLM and CMS platforms.

Reporting to the VP of Employment Legal, and partnering across the Legal team by supporting the Chief Legal Officer, Deputy General Counsel, and VP of Corporate Legal, you'll be responsible for:

Operational Management and Efficiency

  • Build a long-term roadmap to guide Legal team effectiveness and efficiencies. This includes delivering technology and processes that improve spend management, legal vendor management, contract management, litigation, IP portfolios, and knowledge management.
  • Assess and upgrade contracts management processes to contracts intake system/tool or full CLM capabilities.
  • Assess data mapping tools and other matter tracking capabilities (including DSARs, data retention, AI governance).
  • Collaborate with Legal leadership to facilitate, create, and execute the Legal team's long-term strategic and operational planning process and follow-on actions.
  • Hold regular business reviews with Legal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with teams including IT, Sales, Finance, Procurement, People & Culture to build on established partnerships, drive strategic company-wide programs, and collaborate on projects.

Financial Management and Data Analytics

  • Run Legal like a business. Leverage new and/or existing systems to collect, analyze, and report relevant data to improve our legal operations.
  • Manage the budget for the Legal team to drive responsible spend. Make and implement budget recommendations to the Legal leadership / CLO.
  • Stand-up a world class legal vendor management program to ensure quality outside counsel support at efficient rates and under optimal fee arrangements. Negotiate fee agreements with legal vendors. Develop a governance and enforcement framework for vendor billing guidelines.
  • Management of legal department initiatives, including, OKRAs, DEI goals, and team engagement.

Technology and Litigation Support

  • Evolve our Legal technology roadmap and collaboration with support teams to inspire innovation and automation across the team.
  • Track return on investment on our legal technology investments with an eye towards doing more with each tool we use.
  • Stand-up our litigation support function, including enabling data analytics, provide data insights on litigation and legal matters. Be an expert in case management, e-discovery, legal hold process, and data collection and document review.

Knowledge Management

  • Organize legal and department institutional knowledge by creating a centralized knowledge management repository, and standardize processes, practices, nomenclature, and templates.
  • Develop Legal site on our intranet site to create efficiencies for business / client support.
  • Assess a dedicated Legal training platform with videos for Contracts Policies and Procedures, Privacy and Ethics
What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications):
  • 8+ years of legal operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Legal Ops experience in tech and experience with large multinational employers (Americas, EMEA, APJ / India).
  • Demonstrated proficiency across technology products, eBilling, litigation management, knowledge management, and CMS and CLM platforms.
  • Experience in managing and reporting on Legal team operating expenses, including law firm accruals.
  • Process-oriented with experience reducing manual work and increasing operational efficiencies.

Zscaler's salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range
$161,000$230,000 USD
