Job Description

This position serves as a lead worker for Mail Services, scheduling and monitoring day to day operations in conjunction with the Mail Services Supervisor. The position coordinates work teams for mail design, preparation and processing in compliance with the US Postal Service (USPS)regulations. Duties also extend to coordinating logistics activities; such as routing deliveries, work order scheduling, employee training, monitoring metrics, etc.

Supply Chain Management: Logistics is comprised of AggieSurplus & Services, Central Receiving, SCM: Stores, Mail Services(Bulk, Campus and UCDH), Microscope Services and related programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.

  • Experience and knowledge working with US Postal regulations and Logistics industry standard practices to efficiently process and deliver all types of mail.
  • Experience working with computers and software to facilitate operations (i.e. scheduling, mail processing, customer interactions, route development/ delivery, metrics analysis, etc.).
  • Experience scheduling and training staff to meet the needs of daily operations in a deadline driven, customer centric environment.
  • Experience monitoring/analyzing logistics operations and metrics in conjunction with leadership to improve operations.
  • Experience managing diverse teams and operations in a fast paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience processing hazardous materials and export shipments.
  • Experience operating high speed mailing equipment (i.e. inkjets, meters, folders, etc.),handheld scanners and material handling equipment(i.e. gas and electric forklifts, hand rucks, flat carts, etc.).
  • Knowledge of UC Davis software systems, policies, departments and locations.

Department Overview

On behalf of Bulk Mail Services, this lead position is responsible for ensuring quality control measures, providing value-added customer service, and coordinating mailings to maximize postal discounts while complying with USPS regulations.

Physical Demands

  • Position requires lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to safely perform heavy tasks using continuous movement (e.g. stoop, bend, reach, twist; climb, squat, etc.) to lift and move cumbersome objects.
  • Work in areas with heavy accumulation of paper dust. Must be able to stand for long periods.
  • Incumbent must wear protective clothing (i.e. gloves, close toed shoes, etc.).
  • Incumbent must undergo annual hearing exam and wear ear protection when operating certain high-speed mailing equipment.

Work Environment

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation
  • Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System
  • A valid California License is required.
  • Required to complete online(LMS)HIPAA101, and Privacy Security Training classes within10-days of initial employment.
  • Must obtain forklift and hazardous material shipping certification within 90
  • days of employment.
  • Position may, at times, require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; work occasional overtime; work occasional varied lunch hours, and work occasional weekends and holidays. Restricted vacation during peak periods.
  • Remain flexible and willing to work/travel to UCDH MailServices in Sacramento. When assigned to work at UCDH MailServices, must participate in UCDH Program that involves a TB skin test, and confirmation of immune status for measles, rubella, and varicella.
  • Adhere to department uniform policy and personal protective equipment requirements
