Position Overview

The Investments Buyer is responsible for the negotiation and placement of all media (with a focus on video, digital, audio as applicable) for existing clients. As a Buyer, you are responsible for all negotiations and account maintenance. In this role you will be assigned specific clients and be part of a team that manages the account from the start of negotiations to the final campaign wrap up. The successful candidate must also be a creative thinker, incorporating the latest media trends and innovations. Candidate should exhibit a can-do attitude to tackle all assignments, exhibit the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, and be a creative problem solver that participates and takes interest in the agency, the industry, and the success of our clients. The Buyer will learn to deal effectively with clients and work closely with our planning group in managing budgets, developing strategies, negotiating media buys, and executing customized enhancements. It is imperative that this candidate follows technology and creative work to stay on top of pertinent information and trends.

Duties & Responsibilities

Portfolio and Growth

  • Support new business inputs, as requested.
  • Build knowledge of Mediabrands media partners, pricing strategies and inventory to support planning/buying.
  • Support Business Leadership in forecasting, actualization of channel spend.

Product and Work

  • Learn key programs and tools as applicable for channels under your purview and master media math.
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations including accurate stewardship of buys, entering, and maintaining buys into systems.
  • Pull necessary reporting weekly and on ad hoc basis and participate in analysis and post campaign summary of integrated programs.
  • Assist in actualizations with partners and final billing numbers; responsible for billing discrepancies and produce resolutions.
  • Professional and prompt communication.
  • Assist in responding to client request including but not limited to schedules, buy highlights, marketing, and competitive.
  • Assist internal team(s) with presentations.
  • Responsiveness to client requests.
  • Works closely with other teams to ensure client strategies are woven into media buys.
  • Research and report on trends, innovations, and changes that affect media buying.
  • Assist in negotiations and help evaluate and negotiate media plans.
  • Clearly and accurately communicates orders and changes to media partners/vendors.
  • Entering and maintaining buys in MBOX and Prisma, updating internal buy summary documents, monitoring delivery, and negotiating ADU where needed, and working with traffic teams.
  • Works with clients, media team members and media planners to resolve media billing issues.
  • Adhere to / use of agency processes and tools.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines/SBUs (Orion, Kinesso, Insights & Action) for a holistic buying approach.
  • Support and deliver on MAGNA agency-wide media partnership targets.
  • Participates in agency and external personal growth & education initiatives.
  • Ensure and advocate for agency partner relationships.
  • Deliver best in class rates and efficiencies through strong negotiations and leverage of MAGNA partnerships.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

People and Culture

  • Onboard, train and manage Assistant Media Buyers and review work completed by them to ensure accuracy.
  • Actively participate in agency Diversity, Equity and Inclusion trainings and events.
  • Participate in agency and external personal growth & education initiatives.

Qualifications - Required Skills

  • Media buying/planning experience as a junior or assistant buyer at a media agency.
  • Skilled communicator.
  • Strong mathematical ability required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications - Desired Skills

  • 1-3 years of related industry experience.
  • Work experience in national/spot television/radio/digital preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment in the media industry.
  • Ability to meet last-minute deadlines.
  • Passionate about advertising and the ability to spread that passion to others.
  • Work hard and smart on several projects at once.
  • Ability to present to an audience.

The salary range for this position is posted below.
