Job Summary

The Field Service Technician primarily services, provides technical support and recommends the application of hot melt adhesive dispensing equipment and parts within an assigned territory and customer base. This position will be based remotely with the ideal candidate being located in Central Washington in the greater Yakima area.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical support directly to customers of Nordson Adhesive Dispensing Systems Support may be in the form of start-up assistance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, training or general technical counseling of Nordson hot melt adhesive dispensing equipment
  • Assess requirements for and provide quotations to Customers for Nordson products and services including installation support, equipment troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and training.
  • Coordinate efforts with and assist Strategic Account Managers (SAMs) and Inside Sales Representatives (ISRs) with technical product and customer support, troubleshooting and training
  • Interface with SAMs and ISRs to maximize the opportunity for sales of Nordson Adhesive systems and parts to existing customer base and prospects
  • Identify new equipment technologies as required based upon application, customer and field engineering needs, and recommends best solution for improving customer operations
  • Prepare and promptly submit all administrative and technical reports as requested to Regional Manager and advises of all field tests or installation requirements that need assistance from Application Engineering, Existing Equipment Engineering, and Strategic Account Manager
  • Responsible for auditing, documenting and updating customer installed base line survey information in the Nordson database
  • Keep abreast and advise Regional Manager of new markets, changes in existing markets, competitor activities (prices and product changes), and need for new or redesigned products and applications.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures
  • Meet or exceed yearly assigned sales budget within assigned account base in coordination with Strategic Account Managers and Inside Sales Representatives territory representative
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associates Degree in technical discipline or equivalent
  • 3 or more years of industrial field service related experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and skills.
  • Electronic knowledge and ability to utilize common instrumentation, tools and equipment (i.e. VOM volt/ohm/multimeter)
  • Advanced hydraulic systems knowledge and skills
  • Ability to read installation, dimension and troubleshooting drawings plus hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use a computer to maintain records, including Excel spreadsheets to prepare correspondence, and for communication purposes
  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish) a plus

Travel Required

75% daily travel within assigned geographic territory with 2-4 overnight stays per month.

Base Salary Range for this position is: $26.00 to $33.00, and bonus target is 3%; shift premium may be available depending on shift associated with the specific job opportunity. Benefits including Medical, Rx, Vision, Dental, and Health Savings Account (HSA), Retirement and Security benefits including 401k and Life Insurance. During the first year of employment, employees may accrue up to 15 days of Paid Time Off (PTO), equivalent to 120 hours. Employees receive 13 paid holidays. In addition to Paid Time Off and paid Holidays, each employee receives 16 hours paid time each calendar year to perform volunteer services for Nordson-sponsored events. The base salary pay range for this job level is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, business considerations, and local market conditions, as well as candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, and skills.
