Overview

Ferrellgas is looking for a Benefits Specialist to join the team! Under general supervision, this position responds to intermediate to complex inquiries about employee benefit programs, including but not limited to health, life, disability, medical/dependent care spending accounts, COBRA, Wellness, leave of absence/FMLA, and may include involvement with retirement plans. This position works closely with payroll and outside vendors to ensure the accuracy of employee benefit elections. This position requires a detail-oriented skill set and the ability to work as a team member.

Responsibilities
  • Resolves issues and inquiries from plan participants regarding health and welfare benefits, benefits premiums/payroll deductions, FMLA, leave of absences, etc. through video conferencing, phone, or email.
  • Assist in administration of various benefits policies based on the needs of the company and in line with legal requirements.
  • Liaison with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, etc. in the administration of benefits and claims issues.
  • Checks accuracy and completion of employee benefit enrollment and inputs enrollment data into PeopleSoft.
  • Reconciles daily BAS report to ensure PeopleSoft data accuracy.
  • Verifies accuracy of returned beneficiary designation forms.
  • Responsible for record keeping in accordance with Ferrellgas policies, objectives, and applicable government laws and regulations. Audit and research issues with PeopleSoft benefit data for quality purposes.
  • May be requested to provide support in various benefit projects and administration, such as PeopleSoft Upgrade and new functionality testing.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of related benefits experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent oral and verbal communications skills.
  • Solid understanding of benefit contract language.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft HRMS or similar HR systems in area of benefit administration.
  • Excellent telephone manner with clear, concise, and professional communication skills.
  • Demonstrates empathy for personal circumstances of associates, while remaining objective.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, self-directed, team-based environment.
  • Consistently demonstrates commitment to and delivers timely, effective support to both internal and external customers.
  • Effectively interacts with customers (internal and external), co-workers, management, vendors, and other partners.
  • Good understanding of accounting and finance.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States
