JOB TITLE: Materials Assistant

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Materials Manager performs a variety of planning, procuring, and distribution of supplies, equipment and services for the surgical centers. Performs value analysis activities as necessary. Assist A/P with reconciliation of invoices. Serves as a liaison between surgery center employees and Materials Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School graduate or equivalent

Training Courses in Materials Management with experience in Materials Management

Complies with safety standards, qualities in attention to detail, organization, accuracy, ability to meet deadlines, follows instructions, and low degree of supervision required.

Must have Surgical Technologist experience.

Proficient in medical terminology and surgical instrumentation for all surgical procedures.

REQUIRED LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification

Clinical background knowledge as required by Facility and advantageous

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Additional languages preferred.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Knows programs relevant to inventory management.

Participates in opportunities of continuing education.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must be able to communicate effectively over the phone, in writing, and in person.

Demonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication, including visual and auditory acuity for computers and telephone.

Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, vendors, and other health team members.
