Title: Data Steward
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Duration: 6 months, likely extensions

JOB SUMMARY:

Data Stewardship role responsible for collaborating with all divisions and global vendors to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and governance. Ensure that our financial product reference data can properly serve as a building block for downstream systems performing critical booking, settling, and reconciliation functions along with designing the next generation systems.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of all product types and interact with traders, strategists, and other operations professionals.
  • Proactively resolve data exceptions, dive deep into technical issues to investigate and fix complex issues spanning multiple teams and vendors, and partner with business partners to analyze and implement solutions for new business reference data needs.
  • Partner with a team of global product experts to leverage knowledge to resolving comprehensive reference data problems that involve multiple stakeholders across multiple teams and divisions.
  • Master all aspects of product and pricing reference data and further interpret their attributes to all downstream systems which depend on these same attributes.
  • Develop strong and effective relationships with critical vendors which supply reference data so that they uplift their controls and provide the most pristine product possible to the firm.
  • Improve processes and implement them globally to impact and uplift the entire process.
  • Work with senior technologists and project managers on key projects that are re-shaping the reference data support model that is utilized across the entire financial industry.
  • Provide data-driven insight and decision-making critical to the firm's business processes.
  • Understand existing and potential data sets in both an engineering and business context.
  • Engage business users and colleagues to understand new and changing business requirements, and document them to drive business change.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND/OR LICENSES PREFFERED TO PERFORM THE JOB:

  • 1+ years Data modeling utilizing Structured Query Language (SQL), JIRA software
  • 1+ years Utilizing Microsoft Excel to analyze product and pricing data.
  • Improving processes and implementing them globally to impact and uplift an entire process.
  • Performing root cause analyses and utilizing other Lean Six Sigma methods.
  • Working with financial product reference data cand performing critical booking, settling, and reconciliation functions.
  • Working with senior technologists and project managers on key projects for reference data support modeling for the financial industry.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field.
