Job Description

Under the general supervision of Directors and Scientists, the incumbent is responsible for production of cell culture work, including preparing cell line and primary cells, isolating and purifying samples, maintaining accurate inventory, training staff, conducting a variety of product development research efforts. Keeps excellent data records and easy retrieval to fulfill client data requests. Ensures the experimental protocols are compliant with animal welfare and are faithfully transferred to the Operation team for consistency in product offerings. Individual Research Associates will be a collaborative member of the cross functional Product Development department and are assigned to work within the Operations team. The incumbent ensures a successful transfer of studies into the lab and the execution of studies with the highest quality and scientific integrity. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of LIMS entries.


The salary range is $64,001 - $92,802. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Contributes to the technical design of experiments and methods, develops conclusions, and makes recommendations for further action.
  • Frequently designs novel methodology for solving tactical problems.
  • Conducts varied and complex experiments requiring high-level technical skills. Anticipates challenges and is able to troubleshoot common technical issues, and plan for alternatives.
  • Performs complex laboratory techniques such as cell culture, experiments with a significant amount of independence. Collects and analyzes data and interprets results.
  • Prepares detailed written and oral presentations of data, results, and conclusions, concisely and confidently.
  • Maintains laboratory notebook and electronic LIMS data. Documents experimental results and procedures clearly and concisely in required format.
  • Improves experimental procedures if necessary through discussion with internal and external investigators.
  • Provide mentoring and training to technicians, technical guidance and scientific support.
  • Ensures AUC protocols and/or amendments are in place and are accurate relative to the statement of work and submitted memos prior to study initiation.
  • Ensure the studies and projects are executed per statement of work without deviation.
  • In collaboration with Directors and Scientists, drive process improvement on study execution leading to better workforce utilization, improved processes, enhanced turnaround times, and improved lead-times for study initiation.
  • Ensures the experimental protocols are faithfully transferred to the Operation team for consistency in product offerings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of relevant work experience within an advanced biosciences research laboratory.
  • Must be knowledgeable in advanced cell culture techniques, cell isolation and characterization techniques;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to execute tasks in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be able to establish two-way communication with collaborators, technicians and department heads regarding specific needs and deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency with a variety of software tools including Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills and ability to resolve technical issues independently and in a timely manner. Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to pay attention to detail while multi-tasking in a fast paced work environment.
