Senior Commercial Analyst

Job Description Summary

We are searching for a Senior Commercial Analyst to contribute to our Finance group within our Metal Forming organization. This role will be based out of our World Headquarters in Detroit. Join the rapidly growing team of motivated financial professionals working as a key member of a cross functional team, involved in activities like quoting new business, costing engineering changes, valuing make/buy scenarios and cost reduction opportunities. The position is responsible for monitoring and reporting the financial health of new programs until start of regular production.

Job Description

  • lead and manage all financial responsibilities related the development of Business Cases and Cost Analyses for product programs.
  • Coordinate with other functions to develop a business case and quote for opportunities.
  • Review a bill of material(s) and manufacturing assumptions for reasonableness as part of the process.
  • Assist Sales team in quote preparation and run various pricing / volume scenarios as the need arises.
  • Prepare a cost analysis for every change in program design, sourcing, and or process change.
  • Conduct make vs buy studies and evaluate cost reduction initiatives for financial feasibility.
  • As a member of the launch team, attend weekly team meetings to remain up to date with program changes.
  • Report financial status of product programs at Program reviews with the management team.
  • Support plant finance develop cost models and manufacturing costs / rates.
  • Work with different regions on customer, program, and product margin analysis
  • Collaborate with the capital planning group in budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Actively contribute to departmental initiatives/process improvements to improve the overall department's efficiency.
  • Support ad-hoc quick cost analysis as per management request

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years in Finance; at least 4 years as Finance Controller, at least 2 years in Cost Accounting.
  • Experience in cash flow analysis
  • Experience with Financial Valuation and modeling
  • Familiarity with ABC Costing
  • Excel skills at least at 80% level
