We are seeking a Senior Construction Manager to lead the construction of large dam replacement and modification projects in California. This position will lead third-party construction management teams representing the project Owner, liaise directly with design teams and contractors through preconstruction and construction, leverage their extensive experience on similar large capital projects to anticipate and work through challenges and lead the project team to successful project completion.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Serve as Lead Construction Manager on large dam projects in California, with construction values from $100M to over $1B.
  • Oversee a third-party CM team, including COWI staff and sub-consultants, supervising construction contract administration, change management, and quality assurance.
  • Act as the primary contact for the Owner, Designer, and Contractor throughout construction.
  • Coordinate the project team to quickly resolve construction-related issues such as change orders, cost overruns, schedule delays, and compliance issues.
  • Develop and implement project-specific plans for Construction Management, Quality Management, Health and Safety, and Communications in line with COWI and Owner policies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for California dam projects, including DSOD, FERC, and CEQA.
  • Provide on-site presence full-time during project execution or as needed.
  • Mentor COWI staff in CM skills, support additional CM services like Risk Management and Claims Analysis and assist design teams with constructability reviews and contractor evaluations.

On top of that, you will:

  • 15+ years of related construction experience, lead CM for large, complex public works projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management,Construction Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in dam construction, particularly in California.
  • Experience with DSOD, FERC, and CEQA regulations.
  • Qualified as a Professional Engineer (PE) in California and Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, team leadership, and conflict resolution skills, with the capability to be based on-site full-time and a valid U.S. driver's license.

Base compensation: $180,000 to $260,000 for Californialocations only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set and/or location.
