Position Summary

The Project Specialist is responsible for supporting the development and execution of critical efforts within PS' Family Services division, which comprises family strengthening programs, as well as Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) and/or research efforts across policy areas such as Healthy Marriage and Relationship Education (HMRE), Responsible Fatherhood (RF), and Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (APP). The Project Specialist will support the development of tools, products, and approaches to facilitate efficient and high-quality internal and external systems. This individual will be working closely with Family Services division staff to coordinate project resources and activities across departments and teams. The Project Specialist will perform multifaceted, time-sensitive functions to ensure that projects are organized and completed effectively and timely, both independently and with guidance from senior level staff.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support the planning and implementation of TTA activities and respond to project support needs
  • Develop timelines, spreadsheets, protocols, and other tools to create efficiencies across project and division activities
  • Input, extract, and analyze data from TTA management online system
  • Assess and report on best practices for project and division collaboration
  • Participate in business development activities, as needed
  • Serve as designated point of contact for, investigate and facilitate resolution of problems and challenges faced by clients in reaching program deliverables or other issues with underlying contracts
  • Develop written strategies and tools for clients to address client-specific needs in meeting program deliverables
  • Coordinate TTA strategies and deliver needs-based TTA which may include phone consultation, site visits, facilitation of peer-to-peer exchanges, webinar development and facilitation, and development of written tools and resources
  • Conduct site visits, facilitate meetings, and make presentations to internal and external customers
  • Document processes, accomplishments, and process improvement steps related to service delivery implementation, TTA provision, and/or research activities for senior staff and clients; perform quality assurance strategies
  • Develop and/or apply subject matter expertise to projects; continually improve knowledge base around emerging policy, research and practice areas
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Bachelor's Degree, required
  • Applicable fields and disciplines include business, social sciences, humanities, public administration, public policy, education, research, and related fields.
  • Will consider 4+ years' work experience in lieu of degree

Experience

  • 2-3 years of experience or coursework in areas of program operations, strategic planning, research, and/or family policy, preferred

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical skills and ability to effectively to translate research into practice for wide dissemination, required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Limited Domestic Travel
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Personable, a critical thinker, self-motivated, hard-working, detail-oriented and flexible
  • Maintain a valid Driver's License
