Where you will work:
The Augusta mill sits along the Savannah River, on the state border between Georgia and South Carolina and manufactures light, medium, and heavyweight coated paperboard. It is a well-invested SBS paperboard manufacturing facility with approximately 600 thousand tons of capacity. This facility boasts over 700 employees and has been in operation for almost 65 years. Located on 3,000 acres, the Augusta site operates two paper machines that produce 1,940 tons per day. The Augusta Mill is Clearwater Paper's largest paperboard facility and is critical to the success of our strategy and future.

Augusta, Georgia is a vibrant community along the Georgia/South Carolina border about 150 miles east of Atlanta and 70 miles west of Columbia. What you will do:

The Shift Supervisor - Power will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

  • Responsible for direct supervision of production crew utilizing key competencies and attributes.
  • Facilitates the execution of individual development plans working closely with Operators, Assistant Supervisors and Learning Leaders
  • Works with crew to reduce environmental impact on the community, reduce risk to our employees, and maintain profitable operation of the power and recovery department.
  • Personally accountable for the crew's performance.
  • Responsible for safe work environment, including conducting daily safety meetings, observations, and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Encourages and motivates crew members to complete on-shift safe behavior observations.
  • Provides documentation/record keeping for training and qualifications.
  • Assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions.
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding established production and quality goals.
  • Audits work systems to ensure consistent operation (rounds, logs, check sheets, inspection procedures, TCC's etc.)
  • Directs maintenance tasks to be completed on shift.
  • Communicates and plans production between departments.
  • Supports annual and routine outages.
  • Conducts one-on-ones with direct reports.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering preferred; equivalent power and recovery experience will also be considered.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Paper or pulp mill experience preferred
  • 3 - 5 years' supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in a power and recovery operation
  • Must be able to work rotating shift schedule.
  • Willingness and ability to fully manage 24/7 operation directly and through direct reports.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must have good organizational and computer skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and energetic.
  • Ability to work within labor agreement if applicable.
  • High-speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high-frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete surfaces
  • Personal Protective Equipment is required in the mill environment.
  • Dirt, noise, odor, & temperature extremes.
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals used in manufacturing process

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience among other factors. Paid time off will include vacation days, personal days, and company holidays.
