GENERAL PURPOSE

This position is responsible for providing work direction, monitoring capacity, setting priorities, along with identifying and implementing process improvements for assigned work stations while maintaining specified efficiency, accuracy and inventory control metrics. This position is a first point of contact for the personnel pertaining to issues that arise during the assembly or warehouse processes. This position is responsible for providing and overseeing the training of new employees in the area.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for coaching new employees as well as other team members on a daily basis; provide training and guidance and hold employees accountable to follow our policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform various assembly jobs and run various types of equipment according to assembly drawings or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings
  • Inspect product in order to ensure quality
  • Assign tasks daily to employees according to priority
  • Assist in all areas of operations
  • Be the first point of contact for issues that arise in the area
  • Make decisions regarding the product, materials, and priority in which orders are completed
  • Provides recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Identify root case and corrective action
  • Become the interface between departments and functional areas
  • Make sure materials are readily available for the job
  • Update all completed work in the correct system per the schedule
  • Perform work at or above pre-established performance objectives
  • Complete clean-up responsibilities and maintain the work station according to 5S procedure
  • Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated a proven ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, BOM's and associated procedures
  • Demonstrated a proven ability to follow directions
  • Full understanding of internal processes that relate to the manufacturing area
  • Must have demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
  • Proven ability to motivate employees, as well as delegate effectively
  • Must be able to function in a deadline driven environment
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
  • Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management, to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs, and willingness to adapt to frequently changing priorities/tasks
  • Be detail-oriented and have excellent follow-through skills
  • Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
  • Demonstrated a proven ability to assemble a wide range of products and to locate and print assembly drawings, route sheets and product labels
  • Possess advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated a proven ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Possess full understanding of the KANBAN processes
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Possess intermediate level understanding of LEAN principles - 5S, KANBAN
  • Ability to make decisions on defective materials
  • Proven reliability - attendance and punctuality
  • Must be able to obtain a license to drive a forklift, if required for the area

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years of previous manufacturing experience with Milestone products, previous lead experience, or at least 4 years manufacturing experience outside Milestone

Special Job Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work extra hours when needed, including weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training experience
  • Supervisory/Lead experience

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for the majority of the day while making coordinated movements of the hands and fingers to grasp/pinch, manipulate and assemble objects. This may include use of vibrating/pneumatic tools, overhead and outstretched reaching with arms, bending/twisting/stooping, kneeling/squatting and lifting/carrying up to 70 lbs. throughout the day and occasionally up to 75 lbs. as needed and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
  • Steel-toed shoes are required for working in this position
  • Regular production/warehouse environment (no air conditioning)
