Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related area of study.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related purchasing experience managing a wide variety of major purchasing projects/initiatives. Experience with supplier management, value analysis, and contemporary Procurement processes, combined with negotiation terms and conditions, inventory control procedures, pricing methods if applicable. A general understanding of accounting practices and related manufacturing costs/supply sources required.
  • Over 8 years of Direct Materials Procurement experience in the Steel Industry with good knowledge of the different category areas and critical materials required for the steel making process.
  • Self-directed; capable of developing and executing departmental strategies while performing tactical procurement activities.

Abilities and Skills:

  • Ability to lead teams and influence change.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project planning knowledge and experience.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office suite software.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to assess trends and statistical data/reports.

  • Proven coach and trainer of the procurement process.

Your Purpose:

This position is responsible for providing the leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to the procurement team and internal stakeholders such as Operations, Maintenance, Purchasing Managers and Purchasing Buyers to ensure that material and service requirements are met while minimizing total short and long-term costs for their area of responsibility.

You will be tasked with incorporating sustainability principles in its sourcing parameters and in the management of suppliers to promote responsible sourcing practices. As part of this effort, when acquiring products and services, the incumbent should work to ensure the adherence of its suppliers and contractors to Gerdau's Sustainability Policy and Code of Ethics for Third Parties. Gerdau seeks to disseminate the culture of sustainability throughout its value chain through partnership, communication, awareness, and engagement initiatives.

Your Work:

  • You will ensure the development and execution of Procurement strategies for their respective area(s) that are aligned with the business needs. You will also interact with your corporate peers from their region and other countries to manage the Procurement process. You will also engage regional Procurement Managers and Buyers to ensure that the best possible quality and price at a regional and local level.
  • You will be responsible for not only technical expertise in Procurement, but also for supporting and providing leadership to your respective team and stakeholders across Gerdau locations.
  • You will provide direction to the Purchasing team, guide them, educate them, and ensure that Corporate and Global Procurement processes are implemented and sustained for their respective area(s).
  • You will assist with developing and creating new Procurement policies for the organization and will be responsible for policy implementation, education, and adherence. Also, utilize technology to improve the efficiency of the team and place emphasis on more value-added activities.
  • You will be responsible for developing a high performing team of Category Managers who can effectively manage strategic categories and negotiate the best overall value for Gerdau while consistently engaging our internal stakeholders.
