Summary:
Designs, develops, implements and oversees the organization's Radiation safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with regulations | Responsibilities are within the Radiation Safety Function as a generalist or in a combination of Disciplines
Responsible for all aspects of a Radiation Safety program and serves as the facility Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
Advises plant management of the requirements of radiation safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance as mandated by the regulating agency. Ability to provide technical guidance to leadership and plant personnel.
Knowledge of NRC or agreement state regulations, licensing, radiation training of employees, X-Ray machines, Sealed Source gauges, primarily focused on all aspects of the safe handling of Depleted Uranium. This includes the handling of Depleted Uranium and the indoor test firing of Depleted Uranium munitions, including the controls, protective equipment, and medical surveillance required for working in Depleted Uranium projectile impact areas.
Knowledge of air monitoring for alpha and beta radiation, employee dosimetry, exposure controls, radiation surveys for alpha and beta contamination control in process areas and at firing range, direct reading survey meters, and smear counting instruments, Low Level Radioactive Waste (LLRW), and radioactive material shipping surveys.
