Responsibilities

This role can be based out of one of several of our office locations including Albany, NY, Dewitt, NY, Victor, NY, Williston, VT, Wilkes Barre, PA and Olyphant, PA.

The Commercial Credit Underwriting Department is responsible to provide an independent credit quality assessment of the Bank's commercial clients. These assessments range from initial analyses of new relationships to the Bank to material modifications or restructuring long-term relationships. The Department also is responsible for ensuring the accurate completion of the Bank's risk scorecards and financial statement spreads. The work completed in this capacity is used to make new credit decisions.

The position oversees the Senior Commercial Credit Underwriters and reports to the Senior Credit Manager.

Essential Duties

  • Underwrite New Money and complex credits from 7mm+ (mainly 10 mm and over)
  • Meet with clients and prospects (along with lender). Actively engage in credit discussions, assist with loan structure, assist with loan committee discussions and presentation of credit. Assist with memo prep and presentation
  • Assist lenders with Annual Review/Renewal submissions under $10mm, to include interim approvals, modifications and extensions
  • Work with central credit departments on testing and BBC monitoring on large credits.
  • Assist lenders with CAR on large non-pass credits
  • Review the work of the team
  • Manage remote employees
  • Participate in Group Manager meetings, client calls, and loan committee presentations


Qualifications

Education/Training

Bachelor's Degree in Business field of study (finance, economics, accounting, management); advanced credit analysis and loan structuring training required, MBA and/or CPA preferred

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and with accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly proficient financial analysis skills, including financial modeling and understanding of financial data for commercial loan transactions

Experience

  • Formal Credit training and 5+years' experience in commercial credit, public accounting, financial statement preparation/analysis or toher financial analysis
  • Proven organizational skills; able to work independently with limited supervision and be detail-oriented
  • Proven analytical ability
  • Proven ability to manager and lead teams
