Role: IT System Administrator

Reports to: Director of IT

Department: Information Technology

Location: Arlington Administration: 2116 Arlington Ave., Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90018

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm

Status: Full Time/ non-management/ exempt

Summary

At The People Concern, our success depends on IT systems that help us reach our staff all over LA County. We're seeking an experienced systems administrator eager to develop technological skills on a vast stage further. This person will protect our critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in developing the overall IT strategy. From early on, the systems administrator will empower breakthrough innovations, take on challenging assignments, lead initiatives, and be responsible for results. The ideal candidate is passionate about applying skills and expertise to a technology-based business model that creates real-world solutions for the global marketplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Perform server administration tasks (e.g., user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure systems architecture components work together seamlessly.
* Monitor data-center health using existing management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers when needed.
* Implement and enforce IT security protocols to protect sensitive data and intellectual property
* Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, and security updates; support the Internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
* Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root causes and provide technical support when needed.
* Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups.
* Weekly 1:1 supervision meeting with each Technician regarding mentoring, problem-solving, and strategic goals.
* Work closely with the Director of IT to move the organization toward strategic growth and systematic changes and provide analysis of the issues faced by end users.
* Prepare invoices as needed, sign off on expenses, and reconcile the budget with the Director's guidance as needed.
* Recommend process and vendor changes when applicable.
* Assist in the software and hardware life cycle management processes, including research, packaging, quality assurance, and deployment preparation
* Enterprise user equipment provisioning, installing, and maintenance - smartphones, desktops, laptops, tablets, VoIP, and POTS phones.
* Authoring and upkeep of documents for User Guides and Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).
* Perform related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

* Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, systems performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching.
* Experience in project management, application design and integration, and cloud computing (specifically Microsoft Azure).
* Experience in Fortinet implementation, management, and security.
* Experience in Azure environment, Defender, Intune, and network security.
* Expertise in analyzing and repairing large-scale distributed systems; creating volumes and assigning them to servers; and remote replication.
* Must be able to work on-site in LA locations M-F 8:00 am -5:00 pm
* Possess a valid state-issued driver's license and current vehicle insurance.
* Must be knowledgeable with KnowB4 Phish alert platform, VOIP systems, RingCentral, Verizon,
* Will be required to travel between various sites within a particular day or week to solve issues.
* Night, early morning, and Weekend calls may occur; this position will be the primary point of contact.
* Ability to communicate with excellent customer service and confidentiality.
* A calm demeanor under pressure is required.
* Great written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent leadership skills, including goal setting, motivation, keeping others on task, and meeting expectations of scheduled tasks and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in Fortinet implementation, management, and security.
* Experience in Azure environment, Defender, Intune, and network security.

Work Environment

* Field (may need to travel) and indoor office environment. Based Primarily in Arlington HQ.
* Will be required to walk or drive to different local sites and events (Southern California area).
* Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds regularly.
* Will necessitate working in busy, dusty, and loud environments around our unhoused clients at times, including parking in and near their current areas of residence.
* Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor, and other potential visual situations of this industry (homeless clients, skid row population, substance users, etc).
* May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day.
