Location:120 Towne Center W Blvd, Richmond, VA 23233

Field Trip Dates: 8/5 - 8/16

Field Trip Hours: 8:45 am - 5:15 pm (actual shifts may vary)

Hourly Wage: $25.00 (determined using prior experience)

As Assistant Director, youwill be responsible for overseeing the logistics of field trips, ensuring effective communication with parents, managing staff, and maintaining schedules. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle multiple tasks efficiently and provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our campers.

Job Responsibilities:

Staff members will be responsible for chaperoning field trips, making connections, managing staff, and monitoring safety and wellness. You'll travel by bus to multiple stops, all while having fun with kids.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Actively supervising campers
  • Ensure compliance with Camp Policies
  • Reporting & Recording details of notable concerns or incidents, and of injuries to campers, other staff members, or self
  • Keeping track and being aware of camper allergies and dietary restrictions

  • Are you comfortable leading groups of kids on your own while still collaborating with a team?
  • Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge & learning something new (even if a third grader is doing the teaching)?

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED required
  • Must meet one of the following qualifications:
  • A graduate degree in a child-related field and six months of programmatic experience;
  • An endorsement or bachelor's degree in a child-related field and one year of programmatic experience;
  • Forty-eight semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit from a college or university of which 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours are in child-related subjects and one year of programmatic experience;
  • Two years of programmatic experience with one year in a staff supervisory capacity and at least one of the following education backgrounds:
  • A one-year early childhood certificate from a college or university that consists of at least 30 semester hours
  • A child development credential that requires:
  • High school program completion or the equivalent;
  • 480 hours working with children in a group which could include a supervised practicum; and
  • At least 120 clock hours of child-related training taught by an individual or by an organization with expertise in early childhood teacher preparation provided that the training facilitator:

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Past management or leadership experience is required
  • On-site management at camp can be physically demanding with extended periods of time on your feet. You may be outside and responsible for activities requiring physical exertion.
