Cox Automotive is hiring a Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting role.

This position of Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting is a key financial partner that performs payroll and benefits related accounting tasks on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, completes account reconciliations and provides variance analysis. This position requires gaining a detailed understanding of payroll accounting policies, P&L accounts, balance sheet accounts, and some complex accounting topics. This position will be expected to review results with management and work cross-divisionally to drive efficiencies.

This role is responsible for payroll accounting for Cox Automotive including reviewing all payroll and accrual files from Workday and handling the tracking and accounting for severance, retention, and special compensation. Other responsibilities include the completion of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations as well as variance analysis related to payroll and benefits for each of the CAI solution groups. This position partners across the organization with HR and payroll teams to ensure proper mapping of employee compensation and on process improvements related to payroll accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate the accuracy of all payroll and compensation accounts and entries
  • Support business partners by researching questions and providing guidance on payroll policies and procedures
  • Maintain logical naming convention for departments including working directly with the governance committee to ensure standardization across the organization
  • Provide direction to offshore team related to journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Conduct variance analysis on financial results to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes impacting completeness and accuracy of financial statements
  • Perform general ledger activities such as journal entries for allocations, accruals, and expense reclassification
  • Partner with key finance and business partners to understand expected expenses
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts according to prescribed frequency to ensure balances are properly supported
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement of all Accounting processes, engaging process design conversations and making recommendations.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure all internal controls are adhered to and financial statements are fairly and accurately presented
  • Ensure all accounting procedures, records, and reports conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)


Education, Experience and Specialized Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Finance and/or Accounting required) with 4+ years of accounting/finance experience. A candidate may also have a Master's Degree with 2+ years of experience or a Ph.D. with 1+ yaer of relevant experience.
  • Advanced Degree and/or CPA a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of GAAP
  • Prior experience in payroll and benefits accounting and/or willingness to learn payroll processes and procedures including utilization of payroll specific systems (Workday, Workday Middleware, SQLServer Management Studio) preferred
  • Ability to reconcile balance sheets, support weekly and monthly financial processes and conduct accounting research
  • Excellent problem solving and prioritization skills with strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Analytical mindset with proven ability to exercise judgement, analyze data and prepare financial reports
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with proven ability to influence others
  • Proven ability to work with all levels in the organization and to deliver high levels of customer service
  • Excellent oral and written communication is mandatory
  • Experience working with minimal direction as well as being resourceful and independent in solving problems
  • Excellent proficiency with financial software tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Oracle, Blackline OneStream, and Workday


USD 77,800.00 - 116,800.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $77,800.00 - $116,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
