Job Summary

The Director of Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Programs and Supplier Partnerships is responsible for the diverse procurement and supplier partnership related to UCSF Real Estate strategic initiatives and UCOP diverse procurement goals. Communicates diverse procurement goals and metrics to top management, employees, community partners, UCSF stakeholders (Anchor Institute - West and East Bay), and the University of California Office of the President (UCOP). Regularly interacts with and advises management and organizational leaders on significant matters related to diverse procurement and the significant barriers to entry for small diverse vendors to work for UCSF.

Department Description

The organization of UCSF Real Estate is focused on the development, planning, delivery and management of physical space for UCSF. Key responsibilities include a unified approach to oversee the active UCSF growth planned on a multi-site campus and to manage the complex metropolitan environments affecting capital assets and projects and efforts to align municipal challenges with maximum effectiveness in support of the UCSF mission.

UCSF Real Estate is an integrated unit that enables the alignment of development, planning, design, construction, and management of facilities and a lease portfolio of 2.5M square feet across UCSF. UCSF Real Estate provides these services through the following departments: Building Permit Services, Campus Design and Construction, Campus Planning, Real Estate Services, Health Design and Construction, Health Major Capital Projects, Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland Capital Program Management and support through Business Intelligence, and Finance, Administration and Operations.

Real Estate Services is a fully integrated high-performance private sector-focused real estate development organization that aligns real estate strategy, real estate transaction management, property and facilities management and lease administration to support the UCSF mission.

The combined UCSF campus and UCSF Health organizations include approximately 130 UCSF and 39 contract personnel; operating/recharge budgets of more than $52.2M per year; current year capital project expenditures of $900M; and oversight and responsibility for > $9.7B long-range capital development.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience including 5+ years successfully leading diverse supplier program in large enterprise.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the capability of managing capital projects.
  • Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance of, others in sensitive situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and influence others and to develop and maintain high standards of customer service
  • Advanced knowledge of the functional area, projects, programs, research and issues in support of the function, program and / or organizational unit or initiative.
  • Requires knowledge of policies, practices and systems; human and other resource planning; client services oriented; has good listening, critical thinking, analytical, research and comprehensive project management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Very strong ability to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify multiple options for resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide written analyses and oral presentations to senior management, stakeholders, community partners.
  • Thorough knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Ability to multi-task, use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification preferred.
