Job Description
General Description:
We are seeking a motivated Research Scientist or Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop innovative technologies for aerospace, undersea, and automotive applications. The candidate's main project will be developing a system based on piezoelectric materials. Beyond that, the candidate will interface with other engineers and scientists to start new research and development efforts in the area of multiferroic and active materials. The focus of this role is engineering and applied research to develop novel applications and technologies.

Essential Duties:
Design, simulate, prototype and test systems as part of a multidisciplinary research team developing novel piezoelectric-based applications
Brief internal and external customers
Support future business development by writing research proposals, patent disclosures and journal publications.
Interact with the research community by attending and presenting at conferences

Required Skills:
Prior experience with piezoelectric materials
Deep understanding of piezoelectric and ferroelectric materials
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience fabricating devices with piezoelectric and/or multiferroic materials desired
Experience with design and simulation of devices with piezoelectric and/or multiferroic materials desired
Experience with material characterization and testing desired
A record of innovation and scientific achievement evidenced by multiple strong publications desired
Experience with piezoelectric power electronics is beneficial desired
Experience with perovskites or other transducer materials is beneficial desired

Required Education:
PhD degree in materials science, applied physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related discipline.

Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship required
May be required to travel

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $132,765 - $165,983 + bonus + benefits.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
