Overview: Loureiro Engineering Associates is looking for a Yard Supervisor to add to our Connecticut team.

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the contractor/construction yard. This role includes managing inventory, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, coordinating with suppliers and Project Managers, and maintaining the overall organization and efficiency of the yard. The Yard Supervisor will also manage one yard assistant to ensure that all materials and equipment are available and in good condition for ongoing construction projects.

Responsibilities:
  1. Inventory Management
    • Maintain accurate records of all materials and equipment.
    • Conduct regular inventory audits.
    • Order and receive materials and supply as needed.
  2. Safety Compliance
    • Ensure that all yard activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections.
    • Maintain a clean and organized yard to prevent accidents.
  3. Operational Efficiency
    • Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to fulfill material and equipment needs.
    • Schedule and manage the maintenance and repair of equipment, including implementation of a red tag process.
    • Optimize yard layout for efficient workflow, operations divisional security, and space utilization.
  4. Vendor and Contractor Coordination
    • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and return of materials.
    • Manage relationships with contractors and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
    • Resolve any issues or discrepancies with deliveries or services.
  5. Record Keeping and Reporting
    • Maintain detailed records of all yard activities, including inventory, maintenance, and safety reports.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports to the Operations Manager.
    • Implement and monitor yard policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in construction management is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction, logistics, or a related field. Previous supervisory experience is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in inventory management software and basic computer skills.
    • Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
    • Understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina to stand and walk for long periods.
