The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the prompt distribution of check payments to both internal and external customers. This role serves as a key resource within the division, tasked with certifying W9 forms, processing 1099 forms, adhering to B-notice requirements, and validating various elements associated with 1099 backup withholding and reporting. This role requires high attention to detail and the ability to meet frequent deadlines.

Our ideal candidate has experience in bookkeeping, audit preparation, accounting, and/or dealership administration. They should also demonstrate a basic understanding of Microsoft Office Products and possess professional communication skills.

This position is in person Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm CST in our Chesterfield, MO office.
Responsibilities
  • Print, sort, and dispatch weekly and monthly agent commissions and dealer over-remits promptly for Asset Protection Division (APD) products.
  • Generate and send out weekly claim checks for USWC and DOWC in a timely fashion.
  • Handle checks requiring special attention, including those with address discrepancies, specific grouping and mailing needs, expedited delivery requests, or extra documentation.
  • Oversee the 1099 process, ensuring the collection and validation of W9 forms, adherence to B-notices, and verification of details pertinent to 1099 backup withholding and reporting.
  • Reconcile and submit a monthly audit report to guarantee the accuracy of 1099 forms at the end of the year.
  • Offer support to the Accounts Payable operations for both Asset Protection Division (APD) and Revolos entities.
  • Maintain effective communication with both internal and external clients through email, instant messaging, and phone calls.
  • Perform additional tasks or special projects as required to support the business's objectives.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification.
  • 1 year of experience in a bookkeeping, audit preparation, Accounts Payable, or equivalent role required.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

Preferences
  • Associates degree or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or similar focus.
  • 1 year of experience with a high-volume disbursement process.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of or 1 year of experience with 1099s and W9s.
  • Experience with SAP or similar programs.
  • Experience in AS400 systems.
Protective's targeted salary range for this position is $41,600 to $44,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective's total compensation package for employees.

This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.
