Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates power sewing machines to create embroidered name tapes for US Army service members in accordance with appropriate guidance for size and print style.
  • Familiar with fitter's pins, chalk marks, measurements, and letter sizes.
  • Repair name tapes, including ripping of seams or matching sizes.
  • Able to operate automatic sewing machines, utilizing knowledge of threading machines, winding bobbins, adjusting tension, and oiling parts.
  • Familiar with inventory procedures in order to maintain proper accountability base on name tape list.
  • Reviewed work for accuracy, neatness, and to determine if instructions have been followed correctly.
  • Join together name tapes, and reinforce, using needle and thread, including Stitching Machine Operation.
  • Able to follow verbal instructions from Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor.
  • Ensure that all materials and auxiliary supplies are available prior to beginning work.
  • Start sewing machinery at the beginning of a shift and test it for proper functionality.
  • Address any discrepancies or problems faced during the testing period.
  • Draw threads through needles and adjust machine functions to meet the requirements of the sewing project.
  • Position materials under needles to sew them together or make patterns.
  • Replace and rethread needles for a subsequent project.
  • Observe operations to detect any faults or defects in stitching.
  • Notify supervisor or assistant supervisor of any problems or discrepancies during the sewing process.
  • Ensure that the finished product conforms to the design.
  • Ensure that excess material or threads are cut away from the finished product.
  • Trim finished name tapes using scissors and cutters.
  • Perform general and preventative maintenance tasks on sewing machines to ensure their longevity.
  • Examine finished name tapes for compliance.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years' experience in sewing and embroidery
  • Must be able to lift 25 Lbs. continuously, 50 Lbs. intermittently
  • Must have a neat and professional appearance.
  • Possess a positive attitude and exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Maintain a tidy workspace.
  • Required to observe all safety and health requirements for office environment.
