Position Summary

We are seeking a Human Resources Manager based at our Visalia, CA manufacturing facility to partner with employees and leadership, as well as support for our facility in Pomona, CA. This individual will be primarily responsible for leading and directing the day-to-day administration of human resources programs and processes for plant team members including compensation, benefits, employee engagement, performance management, compliance, employee relations, training and development and recruiting for all levels. The Human Resources Manager ensures compliance with California labor laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of talent and culture in the location; partner closely with the Human Resources Director, Plant Manager and site leadership team to ensure a positive employee relations culture and a safe and engaged workforce.
  • Partner with Plant Manager to determine plant level staffing; participate/ coordinate recruitment efforts for exempt, non-exempt, and temporary workers within process and procedure.
  • Identify training needs and develop training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge including mandatory training, such as sexual harassment prevention.
  • Oversee the recruitment and hiring process, including posting jobs, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions. Collaborate with corporate Talent Acquisition and Human Resources Director to support salaried level recruiting.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies to attract qualified candidates and retain and develop employees.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and management to address various employee relations issues.
  • Conduct investigations and resolve conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Complete orientation and onboarding of new employees including periodic follow up to ensure assimilation and engagement utilizing established onboarding programs.
  • Complete required paperwork as needed to effect employment-related changes (hiring, termination, role changes, compensation changes)
  • Analyze HR reports and analytics to create action plans addressing opportunities while building on strengths.
  • Develop, implement, or support organization performance management programs including performance appraisals, feedback, and improvement or development plans.
  • Support leaders in handling performance issues.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assists with the delivery of effective EHS training to supervisors and employees.
  • Participate in safety audits of operations to identify existing/potential hazardous conditions.
  • Participates in the implementation of safety guidelines and related health and safety communications and educational information including maintaining safety records to ensure compliance with documentation practices.
  • Participates in accident investigation and provides recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Implement programs to reduce worker's compensation costs.
  • Communicate benefit and other corporate program changes to employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field required
  • Strong knowledge of California labor laws and regulations required
  • Manufacturing industry experience required
  • Minimum three years of comparable human resources experience required
  • Strategic thinking and planning capabilities required
  • HRCI or SHRM California certifications preferred
  • Bi-lingual preferred
  • 15-20% travel to Pomona, CA facility
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to all organization levels including Change Management experience
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Exposure to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to respond quickly and efficiently in emergency situations exercising a calm approach
  • Proactive in approach; shows ownership and drive
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to de-escalate situations and help manage conflict
  • Proficiency in HRIS and other HR related software as well as intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Pregis's total compensation package. Compensation also includes a competitive benefits package and may also include bonuses, and other on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is estimated to be $100,000 to $130,000.
