Job Description

As a System Engineer III for Effecture, an METI company, your job will be to ensure the continued enhancement of features in the Navy tactical network. The scale and complexity of Navy tactical network generates a constant stream of interesting challenges which are solved by using an evolving set of technologies that require innovation in every aspect of networking. You will be faced with both scaling the network and providing additional features as necessary. This position is contingent upon the award of a contract.

 

Duties:
  • Support updating system baseline artifacts consisting of network topology drawings, network devices port assignments, and network devices and TACLANE templates.
  • Support developing a System Operators Manual (SOM) and Quick Reference Guide (QRG) to support Fleet Operators and future training development. 
  • Develop and provide recommendations for enhancing MITM security posture, and apply current security best practices consisting of (but not limited to) Out of Band Management, AAA (authentication authorization and accounting), and logging.
  • Support integrating network devices monitoring with the Enterprise Network Management System (ENMS). 
  • Support technical document reviews and technical working groups. Support integration and acceptance test events with planning/setup/operation/validation and evaluation of various network interfaces. 
  • Support the generation of networking documents, networking templates, and engineering artifacts. 
  • Provide overall system and network engineering support to various technical and government teams. 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or equivalent technical degree desired; several years of work experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Minimum three (3) years of DoD networking/systems engineering experience.
  • Operational experience with enterprise/carrierclass routers and switches (experience with Cisco and Juniper required).
  • Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals and network routing protocol troubleshooting skills, preferably in BGP, OSPF, ISIS, and/or MPLS. 
  • English-language written and oral communications skills with the ability to influence others with your network engineering solutions.
  • IAT Level II Preferred: Security+ and CCNA or equivalent. 
  • Up to 25% CONUS and OCONUS travel. 
  • At this time, Effecture will consider only applicants with security clearance at the Secret level or higher.
