Job Description
Job Objective: Manages the land responsibilities within an assigned geographic area with the general supervision and mentoring of a Division Landman or Land Manager.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists Land Manager with delegated tasks.
  • Negotiates, writes, reviews, and amends agreements (farm out, joint-operating, and participation, surface), conveyances, and other contracts, subject to Vice President, Land approval.
  • Interacts with and manages various problems with landowners, partners, and third parties.
  • Verifies and routes "Authorization for Expenditure's (AFE's) to partners for all well activities.
  • Advises and coordinates with other departments as to development and daily operations of potential producing properties.
  • Investigates and approves titles for operation of company assets.
  • Reviews and approves working interests and net revenue interests for expense and revenue decks.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and assimilates newly acquired properties for future operations.
  • Prepares prospect summary report for divestment purposes.
  • Supervises outside Landmen on acquisition of leases and agreements from landowners.
  • Reviews and monitors non-operated properties for the company's assets.
  • Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.
  • Supports company vision and mission.
  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible in-house landman experience with an established oil and gas company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities without close supervision.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas laws, rules, and regulations of the respective state.
  • Working knowledge of geology, engineering, accounting, and regulatory responsibilities as they apply to the oil and gas industry.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with intra/inter-company personnel.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
  • Required: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Preferred: Microsoft Office PowerPoint, GIS and oil and gas related land software system.
  • Preferred: Alaska experience, Federal/State/Tribal operational experience.

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business from an accredited four-year university or college.
    Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Land/Energy Management from an accredited four-year university, or Law degree.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • CPL Preferred.
