Job Description

I. Job Purpose and Job Duties

This position is responsible for training and effectiveness of the Logistics Associates contributions, applying established work instructions, procedures, policies, and best practices. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching processes, systems, policies, and cultural responsibilities. Measuring effectiveness and progress, using audits, Voice of the Customer Data (VOC), Training Matrix/Tracker tools, as well as KPI/TCP data sets, with LC Leadership input. The Logistics Center Trainer will teach and support the KSEA continuous improvement (LEAN) culture. Using improvement tools the Logistics Trainer will assist with implementing improvements to existing operational procedures to maximize efficiency and cut operations costs.

Shift:6AM - 2:30 PM with shift flexibility to 9AM - 5:30PM

  • Plans, schedules, and delivers new hire training, on the job training, and refresher training to include classroom and on the job instruction.
  • Responsible for the effective training, cross-training, and the supporting documentation of all training.
  • With direction, develop and execute specific individual training activities supporting SOP within KSEA operating environment.
  • Work with LC Leadership to prioritize and focus efforts in support of priorities and overall business needs.
  • Responsible for offering feedback on the current logistics training program and further developing the training program.
  • Responsible for updating the trainees and Leadership on their progress from an unbiased perspective.
  • Conduct daily audits to measure effectiveness of training via Voice of the Customer (VOC) data, customer complaints, personal observation/auditing, KPI's, and LC leadership input.
  • Daily review of Voice of the Customer data to help identify root cause and preventive measures.
  • Responsible for identifying discrepancies between logistics operating procedures and the current work processes and driving resolution through training and procedure updates.
  • Develops associates to reach their full potential through effective training and coaching.
  • On time updates and continuous development of training materials, work instructions, and supporting documentation maintaining LC compliance with all regulatory, and other controls.
  • Training role will also have Continuous Improvement responsibilities supporting process improvements, and project work upon completion of primary training responsibilities.
  • Support and contribute to LEAN/Continuous Improvement initiatives utilizing a high level of engagement.
  • Position is expected to spend 80% of their time on the floor with their trainees, contributing value added education/coaching. 20% of time preparing materials, schedules, data collection, and effectiveness checks.

II. Minimum Knowledge, Education and Skill Requirements

Required

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • 0-3 years relevant work experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, and emotional intelligence/patience.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and structured
  • Exceptional time management
  • Strong follow through with focus on milestones and objectives
  • Agile; adjusting to changing business conditions, and diverse personalities.
  • Exemplifies a positive attitude and motivates others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient with multiple SAP transactions and processes
  • Effective communicator able to constructively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Multi-Lingual highly valued, Shift/schedule flexibility

III. Essential Function

  • Must be able to maintain productive working relationships and treat fellow employees with respect.
  • External communication: KARL STORZ colleagues as required and external vendors.
  • Physical requirement/Demands: Position requires constant and varying degrees of movement including standing, sitting, bending, walking, reaching, grabbing, and packing, lifting, pulling, and pushing. Must be able to frequently lift to 30lbs. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 100lbs with assistance Must be able to frequently use a warehouse ladder for reaching shelves. Must be able to operate a pallet jack.
