The Process Engineer supports the manufacturing and repairs of high-pressure turbine parts. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Process Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving various coating and treatment processes used in manufacturing and repair. This includes working with thermal spray coatings, overlay coatings, diffusion coatings, electroplating, specialty welding, machining, laser processes, EDM, heat treatment, braze, chemical cleaning, acid stripping and automation. You'll also collaborate with other departments to ensure quality, meet production needs, and develop new processes associated with coating technologies.

This role is not available for new/future sponsorship or transfer of nonimmigrant work visas.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and standardize procedures and parameters for the special coating and treatment techniques you're assigned to, like thermal spraying, electroplating, and advanced welding.
  • Ensure processes meet strict quality standards and contribute to efficient operations.
  • Create technical reports, work instructions, and training materials to guide others on these specialized processes.
  • Problem solve to identify and resolve equipment and process issues that arise during manufacturing.
  • Actively troubleshoot challenges, propose innovative solutions to enhance safety, quality, and productivity, and champion positive changes to existing methods and equipment.
  • Launch new programs and ensuring the successful implementation of new processes. Monitor daily quality and production results, taking action to address any problems that surface.
  • Participate in design reviews with product and repair development engineers, ensuring new designs integrate seamlessly with your processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical, Materials, Chemical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (other disciplines considered)
  • 3 years' experience in a manufacturing or similar environment
  • Knowledge of gas turbine manufacturing processes such as thermal spray, EBPVD, diffusion coatings, precious metal plating, heat treatment, chemical cleaning and stripping.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with robotic programing, PLC, automation, and control systems.
  • Experience in the aviation industry.
  • Experience with superalloy metallurgy.
  • Working knowledge of six sigma methodologies.
