ERG is seeking a Space Planner with mid- to senior-level experience to assist with on-going space management efforts for a Department of Defense (DoD) client. In this role you will perform occupancy space planning, design, and optimization tasks for both existing and planned spaces. Support is also needed for temporary arrangements during renovation projects. The position is based out of a federal site in Indian Head, Maryland. The ideal candidate should be capable of surveying, developing, and updating occupancy space plans and must be motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

This position will be full-time at the federal site in Indian Head, MD, and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel, including personnel who sit at the federal site or at other locations. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC, 25 miles from Alexandria, VA, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, VA. Alternative work schedules may be considered.
Job Description:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and across all departments to define occupancy requirements and space needs
  • Conduct comprehensive overviews and meticulously plan surveys to obtain space plan requirements across all departments
  • Translate business requirements into occupancy plans that prioritize safety and operational efficiency
  • Work with departments to validate headcount growth projections and programmatic space requirements
  • Use CAD/CAFM to create test fit layouts for approval
  • Provide departments with recommendations for move planning, seat blocking, seat assignments, and spatial data in Archibus
  • Develop reporting tools to effectively communicate occupancy/ vacancy ratios, headcount projections, and workplace conditions to upper-level managers
  • Regularly assess space utilization, adapting to evolving needs and ensuring an agile, high-performing environment
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum bachelor's degree and minimum seven years of relevant post-graduate professional experience in operations/space planning management
  • Experience with space utilization (moves/shared workplace/laboratory and administrative spaces)
  • Experience with data analysis and Microsoft PowerPoint to develop presentation materials
  • Effective communication skills, including business case validations and presentations for leadership
  • Ability to take a leadership role and deal with ambiguity effectively
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Archibus
