Community Advocate

Job Summary

As a Community Advocate, you will be a self-starter who champions Equinix within the developer community, specifically focusing on our digital infrastructure solutions. You will be responsible for engaging with developers through virtual and live events.

A Community Advocate at Equinix focuses on increasing awareness and adoption of Equinix's digital services by making the developer the hero. The role will sit within Equinix's Developer Advocacy team and, more broadly, the Product Led Growth Marketing organization along with our Open Source, Start up, and Software Provider teams. We're a small organization that focuses on moving quickly, adapting, and getting things done.

Equinix has a growing set of digital services that complement our 250+ data centers. We partner with all major cloud providers to deliver infrastructure that enables over 10,000 customers.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with developers, whether in person or online, and ensure the Developer Advocacy team has a presence at community events globally

  • Managing the production and activation of developer's success stories

  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary community engagement and activation projects from start to finish

  • Work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company

  • Partner with our Marketing, Events, and Social teams to activate and engage with online and offline communities

  • Craft a strategy that will create opportunities for the Equinix Developer Relations team to connect with and educate developers on industry trends, pain points, and how Equinix and partners portfolio creates differentiated value, be it through live events, educational content, social media, or Equinix Community

  • Analyze trends and sentiments among the developer community and make recommendations for improvement

  • Collaborate with other programs to ensure that the developer community is represented, and the developer's voice is heard

  • Lead process to produce high quality content that supports our customer advocacy program, including managing successful interactions with customers, sales organizations, partners and various internal stakeholders

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration, partnership, sponsorship, and co-creation of content to expand Equinix's Developer reach and impact

  • Strengthen relationships within the industry to cultivate and grow an active customer reference pipeline

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience

  • 4-6 years of experience managing cross-functional programs/projects and navigating programs at scale

  • Strong initiative, organization and prioritization skills with the proven ability to work in a self-directed environment

  • 3 years of experience in community management

  • Experience with larger offline community efforts (i.e. event planning, etc.). Experience in Developer Relations and/or Developer Communities

  • Experience with various social media platforms, tools, and online developer forums

  • Ability to engage communities through genuine, thoughtful, and interesting content and conversation

  • A deep commitment to problem solving and dedication to exceeding customer expectations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to creatively engage and persuade audiences

  • This role requires some travel (25+%) to attend events, meet with partners, and internal activities

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and keep timelines on track and under budget

Bonus Points

  • Possess a meaningful social media presence with engaged followers

  • Experience with Equinix products and services (Equinix Metal, Fabric, etc.) or other digital infrastructure services related to interconnection, networking, or cloud platforms

  • Experience working with videographers to create video content.
