Junior Budget and Appropriations Reporter

Job Description
Bloomberg Government is seeking a reporter to build out our budget and appropriations coverage. You will work with our team of congressional reporters and editors to break news on federal spending, quickly and authoritatively cover the appropriations process, distill news for an audience that relies on the coverage. You will work on the budget newsletter, which publishes daily when Congress is in session. And you will collaborate with other reporters and legislative analysts on enterprise reporting, taking a deeper look at spending decisions from big picture to earmarks and the lawmakers, lobbyists, and officials trying to influence how the government spends money.

Job Description:
- Ability to report and write news stories and features under deadline.
- Basic knowledge of journalism principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes.
- Ability to attend outside meetings, hearings, news events, etc., and to report on them clearly and accurately.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to use Bloomberg Industry Group publishing system effectively with Bloomberg Industry Group training.
- Excellent proofreading skills.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree with coursework in English or journalism preferred.
- Experience related to subject matter covered by publication is desired.
Experience:
- A minimum of one year's experience in journalism.
