Job Description:

Beacon Platform is looking for an experienced and hands-on Head of Human Resources who will be responsible for all aspects of human resources practices and processes. This role requires a strategic thinker who can also manage day-to-day HR operations and run the current team of HR professionals. Given our startup environment, the ideal candidate must be resourceful, proactive, and capable of wearing multiple hats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic HR Leadership:
    • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business strategy.
    • Provide strategic advice to senior management on HR, organizational design, and workforce planning.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive company culture that supports the company's mission and values.
  • Talent Acquisition and Recruitment:
    • Oversee the recruitment process to attract, select, and retain top talent.
    • Develop job descriptions, conduct interviews, and manage the selection process.
    • Build relationships with recruitment agencies, universities, and other talent sources.
  • Employee Onboarding and Development:
    • Design and implement effective onboarding programs for new hires.
    • Identify training needs and create professional development programs.
    • Promote continuous learning and career development opportunities.
  • Performance Management:
    • Develop and manage performance appraisal systems.
    • Provide guidance on setting performance goals and conduct regular reviews.
    • Address performance issues promptly and effectively.
  • Compensation and Benefits:
    • Develop competitive compensation packages and incentive programs.
    • Oversee payroll administration and manage employee benefits programs.
    • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements related to compensation and benefits.
  • Employee Relations and Engagement:
    • Act as the point of contact for employee concerns and grievances.
    • Promote a healthy and productive work environment through engagement initiatives.
    • Organize team-building activities and company events.
  • HR Policies and Compliance:
    • Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations.
    • Maintain accurate employee records and manage HR documentation.
  • HR Operations:
    • Handle day-to-day HR tasks and administrative duties.
    • Utilize HR software for efficient management of HR functions.
    • Generate HR metrics and reports to inform decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 12+ years of experience in HR administration
  • Experience with global labor laws and employment equity regulations
  • Able to build strong relationships with managers and direct reports to create a positive work environment
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Highly computer literate and able to confidently use standard business tools (Gmail, Excel, Slack, Confluence, etc)
  • Stellar organizational, time management, decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • An innovative, creative, and open mindset

Expected salary range: $200,000 - $225,000
