Salary: $44,814-$56,018 dependent on education and experience

Job Summary

Reporting to the dean of the Library, the Librarian position is primarily responsible for teaching library instruction classes and assisting students in-person and online with academic research to support the college's curriculum and programs. This position will also design and produce tutorials to help students and faculty use and access library resources.

Job Duties

* Provide library reference services (in-person and online) assisting students, faculty, staff in research and information gathering.

* Provide and assess library orientation and bibliographic instruction for classes. Collaborate with faculty to customize the content of library instruction to best support their classes and assignments.

* Be embedded in classes via the online learning management system (D2L) upon faculty request to help support students in their research needs.

* Perform other duties related to or necessary for effective service, or as assigned. Such duties may include, but are not limited to: serials, cataloging; collection evaluation, development, selection and withdrawal; statistics and record keeping; circulation; interlibrary loan services; other duties as assigned to the position of professional Librarian.

* Assist the dean of Library in the following: planning the budget and library objectives; writing reports and grant proposals; selecting and purchasing of materials, services and equipment; evaluation of library goals, objectives and services.

* Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

* Master's degree in Library/Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution
* One year of experience working in an academic library

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience conducting and assessing library instruction.
* Experience using the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education to develop library instruction content.
* Conversational ability or fluency in a second language

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
* Experience using Springshare products such as LibGuides, LibAnswers, LibWizard, LibStaffer, LibCal, and LibInsight.

Additional Notes


* Schedule varies: Regular daytime hours and usually one night a week.
* Occasional travel required.
