What you will be doing:

As an HR Generalist at Johnson Outdoors in Eufaula, Alabama, you'll play a pivotal role in managing daily HR activities, employee relations, learning and development, organizational design, and total rewards. You'll contribute to creating a positive work environment and supporting the company's growth.

You will be responsible for executing and supporting a variety of human resource functions including recruiting, benefits, talent development/training, employee relations, compensation, succession planning, compliance, safety and record management. You will also provide guidance to management and employees on routine to moderately complex human resource issues, concerns, policies and practices in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, standards and regulations.

  • Administer benefits plans, programs and policies to maintain a competitive position and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations. Administers assigned location's employee benefit programs including training employee, troubleshooting issues and answering employee benefits questions.
  • Create recruiting plans for open positions and identifies effective recruiting tools and sources. Performs recruiting, new employee orientation and onboarding for all levels of employees.
  • Administer compensation programs, processes and actions. Performs job analysis and evaluation, completes salary surveys, participates in the incentive and merit processes and assists with project work.
  • Provide counsel to managers and their employees on routine to moderately complex employee relations and related procedures/grievances.
  • Facilitate learning and development programs and processes by facilitating sessions, assisting in the development of learning programs and maintaining training records.
  • Assist in the overall development and execution of the performance management program. Implements, administers and coordinates the performance review process, systems and procedures.
  • Perform routine to moderately complex analysis on the workforce, human resources trends, best practices and compliance. Develops various related human resources reports, presents findings and provides recommendations to management.
  • Coordinate and administer employee health, wellness, safety plans and initiatives for the location.
  • Implement and communicate various human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.
  • Ensure all human resources documents, files and records are up-to-date and maintained according to company policy and relevant regulations.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
  • Participate in and coordinates simple to moderately complex projects by clarifying project objectives, setting timelines and schedules, conducting research, developing and organizing information and evaluating project success.

What you will need to succeed:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in human resources, business management or equivalent.

Experience: Typically requires 2 years of human resources experience in administering multiple of the following functions: recruiting, benefits, talent development/training, employee relations, compensation, and succession planning.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in administering a variety of human resources functions including recruitment, training, benefits, compensation, performance management and employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment related regulations and experience in maintaining/ensuring compliance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management to provide human resources counsel, manage employee relations issues, implement/administer programs, provide training and work on project teams.
  • Ability to make presentations or facilitate sessions for all size groups via the web or in person.
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office, with exceptional Excel skills - ability to utilize advanced features including linking worksheets, pivot tables and moderately complex calculations. Ability to create and run reports to support human resources needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to achieve established deliverables within established timelines.
  • Ability to function effectively within a matrix organization.
