Primary Job Responsibility:

Position is responsible for fabricating, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant process piping and equipment. Certified welder to fabricate process piping to ASTM and API piping codes and standards experienced rigging skills, pipe fitting of pipe spool pieces and valves for both hazardous and non-hazardous applications. Work at elevated heights and able to fabricate and install specialized components as needed in process. Work in a safe manner, maintain a clean and neat work area, and follow site policies and procedures at all times.

Description of Job Duties:

Pipe Fitter & Welding duties will include but may not be limited to the following list of routine craft responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection and repairs on process piping and equipment including valves, gear operated actuators, supporting steel structures, platforms and walkways, bulk material hoppers and chutes.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks for all ropes, winches and sheave hoisting equipment including crane clamshell bucket, stacker, derrick winch rigging, crane hoist rigging and waste heat boiler piping systems.
  • Perform annual hydrostatic inspections on PSM and hazardous pipe sections.
  • Read and draw pipeline ISO and general steel drawings for pipeline and equipment fabrication and installation purposes.
  • Measure and sketch process piping to a high degree of accuracy for replacement pipeline fabrication.
  • Certify and maintain certification for welding requirements to ASME and API standards and pipe codes.
  • Perform gas cutting, plasma cutting, gouging, welding, power toll and hand tools skills to a high and safe standard.
  • Responsible for emergency callouts and occasional on-call duty.

Required Knowledge / Skills / Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • 5+ years craft experience in the Petrochemical/refining industry is required
  • Maintenance of Petrochemical/Refining PSM piping systems
  • Highly competent in fabrication and welding of piping to ASME and API standards.
  • Heli-Arc and Stick welding certified for coded welding.
  • Experienced in pipe fitting, bolt up, bolt torque and gasket systems.
  • Use of measuring tools, protractors, levels, pipe stands and gas purging equipment.
  • Good rigging skills, fort truck and mobile crane and man lift skills
  • Ability to interact with other craft disciplines to complete daily assignments.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of CWI inspection criteria
  • Knowledge of pipe codes and piping material identification.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, stooping is required as part of this position. More than 33% of work time may be spent standing or walking.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a weight of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a schedule of four 10-hour days per week plus occasional overtime.
