Position Summary

The Business Development Manager - Mid supports the Growth organization to achieve growth and profit objectives, specifically through Capture and Proposal Development/Management in building customer relationships, positioning the company for both large and mid-sized strategic pursuits.

The Business Development Manager- Mid is responsible for developing and implementing specific pursuit strategies to win Trideum new business pursuits. These strategies include: teaming, solution (technical, management, and cost) development, win strategy, value proposition and win theme development, competitive analysis, price to win analysis, proposal staffing/development, proposal writing, and color reviews. The Senior Business Development Manager leads the development, implementation, and successful execution of these winning capture strategies, supporting the business case, and developing bid and proposal budgets. The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for the management of capture and proposal activities including timely and substantive gate reviews, in-process updates, process compliance and transition to the program execution team. In addition, the Senior Business Development Manager will be responsible for: customer focused marketing to develop solutions to customer problems, and win/loss analysis, lessons learned and related process improvements.

The position requires a close working relationship with counterparts in Trideum Sectors, as well as other parts of Trideum in a "One Company" environment. In addition, the Business Development Manager-Mid will be expected to build and maintain a close working relationship with Trideum leadership and customers. The successful candidate will be experienced and understands Business Development, Capture and Proposal development processes. Specific experience leading teams to capture critical and strategic competitive pursuits is highly desirable.

The selected candidate will work in the office in Huntsville, AL, El Paso, TX, Leavenworth, KS or remote (must be located in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or Washington D.C.). The person in this role will be responsible for supporting corporate business development.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with leadership to identify and pursue strategic opportunities that align with business unit goals and objectives
  • Conduct in-depth research for future opportunities that align with the company's strategic vision, enter them into the company's CRM, and progress them forward via capture actions/tasks
  • Define target markets, identify, and qualify new business opportunities within those markets.
  • Lead the development and management of strategic pursuit plans
  • Contribute to proposal preparation and submittal and perform post-award stewardship to ensure a successful transition to operations for execution
  • Perform various duties throughout the business development lifecycle, including Capture Manager, Proposal Manager, writer, Book Boss, and/or color reviewer
  • Apply the company's Business Development process
  • Develop value propositions that enhance the company's competitive position and achieve client objectives
  • Contribute to the development of written and graphical marketing and proposal material
  • Contribute to the development of functional, regional, or global business development strategies
  • Evaluate key personnel for contract/task bids/proposals, when appropriate
  • Generate and foster positive client relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Recommend strategic hires, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures when appropriate in support of business development strategies

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, English, Journalism, or other related business, marketing, or technical discipline
  • Ability to demonstrate capability in the use and application of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated leadership skills as evidenced by prior supervisory experience
  • Advanced understanding of the government procurement, fiscal, and regulatory environment
  • The ability to operate independently but still retain an enterprise focus and develop an environment of collaboration
  • Demonstrated networking capabilities among various communities, e.g. acquisition officials/leads in the Department of Defense and other government agencies.
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active Secret Clearance preferred, or eligibility to obtain a Secret clearance is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (8) years of related experience in the sales environment, including capture, proposal strategy/development, and preparation. Relevant military of government experience may be substituted in lieu of direct industry experience.
  • Experience within Department of Defense
  • Possess an active current pipeline of contacts to network current and future opportunities.

Travel:

  • Up to 50%, including conferences, corporate meetings, and customer engagements.
