Job Description

At Coffman's Raleigh office you will work with and be mentored by structural engineers with over 24 years' experience and with over 130 skilled structural engineers on staff working throughout the US.

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Structural Engineer with five to ten years of experience in the design of steel, concrete, wood and masonry commercial buildings in all industries (federal, industrial, private, multifamily, etc.). We are looking for a creative, self-motivated, energetic individual who would like to work and grow as a team player within our progressive, multidiscipline firm.

In This Role You Will:

  • Perform and oversee structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of commercial, industrial, and institutional building projects
  • Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings
  • Develop project schedules and budgets for structural projects and small multi-discipline projects
  • Oversee the production of design drawings developed in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Learn and implement new methods and tools to advance the capabilities of the department
  • Interface with the contractor during construction to ensure positive results with minimum complications
  • Support the Department Manager to develop proposals, RFP responses, and other marketing and business development activities.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering, or other structural engineering related field
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer, P.E. (required)
  • Master's degree in civil or architectural engineering, or other structural engineering related field (preferred)
  • Registration as a Structural Engineer, S.E. (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional structural engineering experience.
  • Design experience with structural steel and reinforced concrete for building and nonbuilding structures.
  • Experience with structural analysis software, Ram SS, Risa, ETABS, ECT
  • Design experience with Concrete, Steel, light gage steel, CMU, and timber.
  • Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD
  • Ability to work independently and supervise the efforts of a small team.
  • Ability to manage a single project profitably.
  • Ability to maintain a working relationship with clients.
