Job Description

Carnegie Mellon University's department of UEIS - University Libraries is searching for a Architecture Archives Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing support by assisting the Distinctive Collections team with the processing and arranging of physical and digitized materials for the Carnegie Mellon University Architecture Archives (CMUAA).

Core responsibilities include:

The primary task will be to aid in the migration of the existing online database to ArchivesSpace. The position will also offer opportunities to oversee research access to the collections-preparing materials for viewing and ensuring appropriate handling of the materials by users.

  • Assist with the migration of the existing database to the application ArchivesSpace. This will require preparing and cleaning the data prior to migration, then testing and checking the data afterwards.
  • Help to process and catalog new materials to the Architecture Archives including architectural drawings, documentation, and born-digital materials in line with established policies and guidelines.
  • Prepare and re-house materials for researchers to view in the reading room and oversee their use to ensure the preservation and integrity of the collection

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree, pursuing Masters Degree in relevant course of study

Additional Information:
  • This is a part-time (15 hours/week), non-exempt position
  • Fixed Term: This is a fixed term position with an estimated duration of 6 months.
