Job Summary

This position begins on July 22, 2024.

Phoenix College Preparatory Academy (PCPA) is currently in search of a committed and passionate educator to join their English department. Operating within a dynamic learning community, this opportunity aligns with the vision and objectives of the Preparatory Charter High School. As a valued member of the instructional team, the selected candidate will be responsible for crafting and delivering lesson plans that adhere to Arizona standards. Essential Functions

60% - Performs duties of an instructional team member, which includes developing and implementing a standard-based, student-centered, projected-based curriculum; develops and implements Arizona standards-based lesson plans to enhance the affective and cognitive development of students; works collaboratively with all staff in developing improved articulation between high school and college curricula and developing learning experiences; advocates, nurtures and sustains a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth; uses data to change teaching systematically and collaboratively; utilizes performance based assessment strategies including student portfolios; facilitates the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of the learning philosophy; establishes partnerships with businesses and community agencies

20% - Establishes a cooperative partnership with parents and students; facilitates resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents; assesses student performance frequently and objectively; facilitates student-led parent/teacher conferences; explicitly states each student's progress, both educationally and socially, through quarterly reports, phone calls to parents and weekly student meetings

10% - Performs advisor duties for students; ensures service learning opportunities and job internships for students; monitors community service hours

10% - Participates in ongoing professional development designed to improve student achievement; serves on high school committees; demonstrates an understanding of course sequencing/departmental requirements/graduation requirements, etc.; supports and facilitates the inclusion of students with special needs and English Language Learners; facilitates extracurricular and after school activities for students; performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Education, Secondary Education, English, English Literature, or General Studies and a state of Arizona Secondary Teaching Certificate in one or more of the assigned subjects

OR

Bachelor's degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution with 15 college credits in Math or Science education.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Experience teaching English in an educational setting
  2. Experience working with Arizona English Standards
  3. Experience working with under-served students
  4. Experience with and utilizing student assessment tools to enhance student success
  5. Experience working in an educational environment that offers dual-enrollment
  6. Master's Degree or above in Education or Educational Leadership
  7. Certified or currently enrolled in a teacher education program


Special Working Conditions

Candidate must possess an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card before starting on July 22, 2024.

May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.

May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time, viewing a computer monitor

This is a Specially Funded position with a projected end date of 6/30/2025 with renewal contingent on funding source.
