DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Drug & Alcohol Prevention Specialist you will be responsible for prevention activities involving schools and community by providing drug and alcohol education and training to school staff and students. You will have the opportunity to participate in community groups and coalitions aimed at prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use/abuse among students and community members. To enhance awareness of drug and alcohol related issues you will disseminate educational materials. In assigned school districts you will serve as SAP liaison and conduct groups for at risk students.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Work from home policy is limited to 18 days per year. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Towanda.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist Trainee; or
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Health Education, Education, the Social or Behavioral Sciences or related fields and one year experience in drug and alcohol prevention work; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
