SUMMARY:

The Printing and Distribution Assistant is expected to perform assigned duties to assist both Printing and Distribution staff in either area as needed. They are expected to run assigned machine according to the rules and procedures established by the American Mathematical Society Print Shop, paying special attention to established safety standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operates folding machines, binder machine, 3knife trimmers, cutter and laminating machine
  • Works with press department to aid quality inspection of printing before Perfect Binding.
  • Pulls, packages, and ships orders
  • Transports and delivers products and mail between the Pawtucket and Providence facilities and distributes mail within the Providence facility
  • Coordinates activities associated with the preparation and processing of AMS mailings
  • Retrieves stock from warehouse shelving.
  • Packs warehouse shelving
  • Interacts with scheduling & management to facilitate the daily schedule
  • Performs other or similar related duties as requested or assigned

  • High School diploma or GED Certificate
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license
  • Ability to understand job Prep & Press Perfect Binding related specifications
  • Ability to understand job 3 Knife Trimmer Operation related specifications and process material according to those specifications consistently.
  • Ability to understand written customer quality requirements.
  • Ability to understand folder related specification in regards to customer request.
  • The ability to use a computer
  • The ability to drive a fork truck/or learn
  • The ability to work independently, strong attention to detail, proven record keeping skills
  • Must have working knowledge of Bindery operations, mailing fulfillment in processing of internal & external mail.

  • Duties performed cause light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting or repetitive motion

  • Requires bending, squatting, climbing, reaching.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders to fulfill orders
  • Requires the ability to move (roll/lift) paper onto folder/gatherer
