Job Description
The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), a Washington DC based trade association represents the nation’s nearly one million workers in the plastics industry. PLASTICS seeks a Senior Manager of Marketing Technology and Operations to execute and enhance PLASTICS' marketing strategies through the adept use of technology and streamlined operations, including email service provider (ESP) automation, website management, paid advertising, attribution, tracking, and reporting. In partnership with the Marketing and Information Technology (IT) team, the Senior Manager will manage the MarTech stack, collaborate across the organization to execute campaigns, and transform data into actionable strategies that power our revenue engine. The Senior Manager, Marketing Technology and Operations is adept in both technical acumen and operational expertise with a proven track record of driving successful marketing campaigns, optimizing processes, and leveraging data to inform strategic decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work cross-departmentally to develop and execute marketing campaigns for association activities and initiatives (promotional campaigns, email sends, print ads, social promotion, and paid advertising).
  • Establish email marketing and social media strategies and workflows (segmentation, drip campaigns, retargeting, content development, paid and organic advertising, etc.) to increase event participation and improve digital engagement.
  • Partner with the Membership team to develop and implement membership recruitment, onboarding, retention, and engagement strategies.
  • In partnership with IT, develop internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) and oversee a consolidated email calendar to ensure high deliverability and engagement; monitor and maintain email health and similar marketing metrics in Hubspot, including identifying improvements and championing automation around workflows, segmentation, and lead scoring.
  • Execute on association website strategy and updates; oversee the maintenance, content updates, and optimization of the company’s WordPress website and event microsites to ensure a seamless user experience; implement search engine optimization (SEO) best practices to drive organic traffic and improve search engine rankings; utilize analytics tools to track website performance and identify areas for improvements.
  • Develop and maintain marketing performance dashboards and reports to track key metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs); deliver regular reports and translate marketing data into insights for decision-makers.
  • Work closely with the Digital Design & Brand team to develop print and digital assets that support broader marketing plans, ensuring pieces adhere to brand standards and are appealing to recipients.
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the position and area.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a related marketing or communication position for a trade association, marketing or public relation agency.
  • A successful track record in membership development and audience acquisition, marketing analytics to inform and improve campaign strategy, and growing membership/customer programs or membership/customer retention and renewal.
  • Experience with Hubspot, Mailchimp, WordPress, and/or project management software is preferred.
  • Experience using marketing analytics to inform and improve campaign strategy.
  • Experience in growing membership programs and/or improving membership retention and renewal.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of digital marketing tactics including segmentation, drip campaigns, tracking and retargeting, paid and organic advertising, and SEO to market programs and services.
  • Systems thinker and creative problem solver comfortable with integrations and analyzing data across the full stack to define metrics.
  • Dedicated to operational excellence, change management, and building best-in-class frameworks.
  • Written and verbal communication skills with diverse stakeholder audiences.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail, problem-solving, organizational, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on a variety of projects simultaneously, adjust to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and collectively to build consensus.
  • Ability to provide customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ESP, web, and project management application management applications.
  • Ability to travel (<25%).
