The Intelligence Programs Group, part of SPA's Space and Intelligence Division, is a specialized provider of systems engineering and trusted advisory services to the Space and National Intelligence community. We utilize mission-proven, data-driven advisory tools and capabilities. We provide highly technical support to ensure the government acquires cutting edge technology necessary for our National Defense. Our portfolio includes the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). SPA has an immediate or near term need for a Senior Space Systems Engineer. The Senior Space Systems Engineer leads a team of dedicated Enterprise integrators of space defensive programs. This role is in support of major Protection system acquisitions and capability delivery with interfaces to other systems. The candidate will provide technical support to government customers and successfully take projects through the Readiness process end-to-end. These efforts will span both established and emerging Protection and Defensive system acquisition initiatives. The program supports full life-cycle acquisition across all mission domains of complex national systems architecture. SETAs provide the customer with the expertise needed for mission success.

Responsibilities

The lead SE's responsibilities include: assessing enterprise, system, and function-level requirements; Enterprise and System CONOPs; architecture products; system schedules; system and enterprise resiliency; and risks. The candidate will be responsible for understanding and implementing Information Assurance needs. Understanding of supporting test and verification strategy and the system integration of new initiatives in support of expanded mission capabilities is required. In addition to individual technical responsibilities, the Defense Lead is responsible for assigning and reviewing tasks for a team of approximately 8 employees. OCSMP certification and space operations experience is a plus, as is knowledge of adversarial threats and threat timelines.
The candidate will interact with several government enterprise systems engineers and stakeholders, as well as multiple Acquisition Offices (AOs) and government and contractor stakeholders to drive resolution plans and strategies for complex technical challenges. The candidate will also support the Protection Capability Program Manager with strategic planning for future capability acquisition and insertion into the enterprise baseline.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

    Requires 12 to 15 years with BS, or 10 to 13 years with MS, or 7 to 9 years with PhD
  • Significant technical experience performing systems engineering functions (requirements engineering, CONOPS development, verification, test and system integration) for national technical means systems
  • Knowledge of space/ground/comm systems and sensor vulnerabilities
  • Experience with large acquisition systems engineering efforts, methods, and processes
  • Understanding of the System Engineering "V" and agile acquisition processes
  • Demonstrated technical leadership of integrated engineering teams.
  • Active TS/SCI with CI poly at time of application

Desired Qualifications:

  • Awareness of mission technical capabilities and system performance analysis and assessment
  • Experience with MBSE, SysML applications, digital tools, Confluence, and Jira
  • Experience with requirements closure, threat scenarios and analysis, and VV&T strategies that align to an agile development approach
