Job Description

The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), a Washington DC based trade association represents the nation’s nearly one million workers in the plastics industry. PLASTICS seeks a Manager, Membership Administration to collaborate closely with the Membership team to oversee the management of membership database and administration tasks. The Manager of Membership Administration will manage efficient processing of membership and renewal applications in alignment with PLASTICS by-laws. The Manager will also ensure accurate and up-to-date records in both member and non-member databases, collaborating with the Membership team to fulfill members’ needs effectively.

Responsibilities:

New Member Processing

  • Verify and cross-reference applications with existing records to ensure accuracy in setting up new records to consolidate and prevent the creation of duplicate records along with coordinating with the Membership team to build out member rosters.
  • Generate invoices and monitor payments, coordinating with the finance department and membership team, as part of establishing the membership.Assist with creating, tracking, and maintaining membership data reports and tracking.
  • Prepare, review, and process new and renewal member applications.
  • Send out new member announcements after receiving payment from new members.

Membership Renewal Processing

  • Assist in processing member annual renewals, a campaign that starts in September each year for the following calendar year.
  • Coordinate with the Finance team to prepare and send invoices when requested by members.
  • Verify and cross-reference renewal forms to ensure accuracy in membership records.
  • Assist in the preparation of renewal forms for back-up use.
  • Manage and coordinate mailing including mail merges, labeling and stuffing mailings.
  • Assist in tracking the renewal process.

Database Oversight & General Membership

  • Conduct monthly audit of membership records to verify accuracy of counts.
  • Answer membership direct telephone line and monitor membership email box to provide customer support responding to inquiries or referring to appropriate colleague on membership or PLASTICS team.
  • Continually maintain database integrity based on incoming inquiries or targeted projects.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communication or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a related sales or membership management position for a trade association, similar industry and/or plastics industry preferred.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn an association management software (AMS) and customer management relationship (CRM) (iMIS preferred).

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Excel preferred.
