What you'll be doing...

Verizon is looking for an experienced attorney to join the SEC & ESG Reporting team in Basking Ridge, NJ or New York City, NY.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing ESG-related disclosure for Verizon's SEC filings, including Annual and Quarterly Reports on Forms 10-K and 10-Q, Current Reports on Form 8-K, Proxy Statement and others and ensuring compliance with SEC rules and regulations and NYSE and Nasdaq listing standards

  • Managing Verizon's compliance with existing and emerging domestic and global ESG-related regulatory frameworks (e.g., CSRD, ISSB, and UK TCFD) and preparing related disclosures

  • Partnering with subject matter experts across the company to draft and facilitate the publication of Verizon's strategic ESG reporting, including the annual ESG Report, TCFD Report, CDP response and related disclosures

  • Monitoring SEC rulemaking developments and U.S. Federal and state and international ESG-related legislative initiatives for impacts on Verizon and working with Verizon regulatory and policy teams on advocacy

  • Representing the legal team in Verizon's ESG Center of Excellence, working collaboratively with members of the sustainability, accounting policy, external reporting, enterprise risk management and internal audit teams on reporting matters

  • Facilitating communications with investors, employees and other stakeholders regarding the company's ESG strategy and practices

  • Creating a strategic plan for the future of Verizon's regulatory and voluntary reporting in response to the evolving ESG landscape

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • J.D. or LL.M. degree and six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Bar membership in good standing in at least one state.

  • Experience in SEC disclosure at a top law firm.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Knowledge and understanding of U.S. state and federal and international ESG reporting laws.

  • Understanding of voluntary ESG reporting frameworks, such as SASB, TCFD and CDP.

  • Strong writing, editing and oral communications skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships within an organization.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and process a large volume of work in a timely manner with attention to detail.

  • Excellent project management skills.

Where you'll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $165,000.00 and $306,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
