Job Description

The Department of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh announces a non-tenure track position at the Research Assistant Professor level. The position will be fully funded by federal and foundation research grants. We seek an individual with research interests in developing a mechanistic understanding of factors that drive the development and recurrence of suicidal thoughts and behaviors during adolescence. The candidate should have a background in clinical and/or developmental psychology, a demonstrated track record of scholarly publications and acquiring grant funding, and experience in conducting multimodal research that integrates data across multiple levels of analysis (e.g., neural, physiological, behavioral). The candidate should have a background in neuroimaging methodologies (e.g., EEG) and experience managing risk and ethical/safety concerns that arise when conducting youth suicide research. Substantively, research interests could include a range of interests, for example:

* Bridging laboratory-based and real-world responses to social threats to understand the risk for STBs during adolescence

* Identifying temporally sensitive behavioral correlates of brain-based findings in youth at risk for STBs

* Assessing dyadic social communication during parent-teen/peer interactions to understand the risk for STBs during adolescence

The person filling this position will complement the current strengths of the Psychology Department and partnerships with other units, which include ongoing research in the Department of Psychiatry.

Eligible candidates will have a minimum of a Ph.D. in clinical psychology (or related discipline) and preferably 2-3 years of post-doctoral experience working in a developmental affective neuroscience laboratory.

The review of applications will begin immediately. Applications should include a cover letter, CV, statement of research interests, diversity statement, list of publications, and up to 3 names of potential professional references.
