The Finance team is responsible for developing and executing on Dropbox's financial strategy and is hiring world-class employees to tackle the challenges ahead of us. You will serve as the company-wide technical accounting resource to Dropbox and play a crucial role in providing dedicated accounting insights to management. As part of this role, you will research and analyze complex accounting matters, play an integral role in supporting the accounting organization in drafting and reviewing new and existing accounting policies, and support the company's financial reporting through the drafting of disclosures and review of complex and judgmental areas. Additionally, this role will have broad exposure to various teams within Dropbox and Dropbox management, building strong internal business partnerships and interacting with a number of external business partners.
Responsibilities
Serve as a technical accounting resource for ad hoc questions and initiatives
Research and provide technical accounting guidance on complex non-routine transactions, including but not limited to business combinations, revenue recognition, equity, leases, income tax, financial instruments, and other critical areas
Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide accounting expertise on non-routine transactions or strategic initiatives
Prepare or review technical accounting memorandums for significant transactions to support conclusions and recommendations and manage the review process with finance management and external auditors
Conduct financial due diligence of M&A transactions, as needed
Manage the valuation process for any M&A transactions, as needed
Assist in the preparation of financial statement disclosures and statement of cash flows, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
Support the audit process, including the preparation of audit support and responding to auditor inquiries
Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies to ensure consistency and compliance across various accounting teams
Provide training and support to finance and accounting teams on new policies and technical accounting issues
Understand and provide interpretation of new accounting pronouncements in order to assist management in evaluating financial and operational impact
Support the SEC Reporting process to ensure proper implementation of new accounting pronouncements
Assist in the design and implementation of new processes and controls as needed to address changes in accounting standards
Participate in the review of quarterly and annual SEC filings
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in financial reporting and technical accounting
Requirements
Highly technical and analytical CPA with audit background at a Big 4 accounting firm(EY, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG) and experience dealing with technical accounting issues with their firm
Top performer that is willing to dive into the details, and looking to gain experience and grow with Dropbox
Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively and build strong relationships across all functions and levels of the company and external business partners
Results oriented with the ability to take individual responsibility for delivering high quality work in a timely manner
Strategic thinker that demonstrates active enthusiasm for solving problems and making valuable contributions to the company, including experience in leading projects related to complex transactions
Advanced knowledge of US GAAP including in-depth experience across multiple financial statement areas including cash flow, revenue recognition, business combinations, leasing, hedging, and equity matters with a strong ability to problem solve
Detail-oriented with great project management skills and comfortable with ambiguity
Preferred Qualifications
1-2 years top tier tech company experience preferred
5 - 7 years of experience in technical accounting, with experience at a Big 4 accounting firm(EY, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG)
Familiarity with ERP systems(e.g., Oracle) and financial reporting tools(e.g., Workiva)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
