Job Description

The UMKC Institute for Human Development, University Center on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (IHD) is an applied research and training center for human services designed to exemplify the University's goals of engaged scholarship and community partnerships. Its functions include interdisciplinary training, applied research, community program development and information dissemination. The LifeCourse Nexus Training and Technical Assistance Center, housed at UMKC Institute for Human Development, is designed to support the "intersect of Charting the LifeCourse ideas, collaboration and transformation." As the definition of "nexus" implies, it is the central place that connects or links groups, things, and ideas together. The LifeCourse Nexus provides an infrastructure to a growing network of implementers on the Charting the LifeCourse framework to learn from one another, share stories, and participate in opportunities to build one another's capacity. In addition, the Nexus serves as a research center, partnering with people and organizations who are using CtLC as a lens to enhance and innovate existing resources, training, and practices, and/or to develop new promising practices, resources, trainings, or products. The Nexus then disseminates these innovations, through access to resources and materials, and providing training and technical assistance.
The LifeCourse Nexus is seeking an experienced and resourceful leader to serve as the Curriculum Coordinator.


This role will assist program leads and subject matter experts in designing and developing quality training and resource materials that meet the needs of the learner. Candidates will create and deliver a wide range of professional development curricula for Nexus Team members, external consultants, Ambassadors and the target training audience. They will assist with coaching and facilitating professional learning collaboratives. This role is highly collaborative and is a key contributor to the successful development and expansion of CtLC training and knowledge translation goals across multiple systems in Missouri and across the country.

Specifically, the Curriculum Coordinator will:

  • Coordinate, create and implement Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) professional development curriculum for project staff, trainers/Ambassadors and target users.
  • Assist with the development of CtLC specific curriculum to be delivered by the Nexus and developed with the program leads and training development team.
  • Provide coaching and technical assistance to the training and program teams to ensure fidelity of the curriculum and adult learning principles.
  • Support the development and implementation of learning collaborative activities for end users and learners implementing CtLC.
  • Create trainer standards, fidelity and certifications/badges for the CtLC learning pathways that will be used to maintain quality trainers within Nexus and at affiliates or training sites.
  • Maintain consistent and timely communication with Nexus leadership, Team Leads, Project Coordinators, Content Specialists and other project staff, as required.
  • Serve as a project member on contracts specific to subject matter expertise, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree in related/relevant area, and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree (curriculum and instruction, training and development, human/social services, or public administration) or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience in Education, Training, Adult Learning, and/or Business from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Demonstrated relevant experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:

* Experience in developing and delivering curriculum that uses backwards design, universal design and adult learning principles to an array of target audiences.

* Self-driven performance and initiative with strong skills organizing and managing projects and team members with instructional design models such as ADDIE.

* Experience with developing training and written materials for broad dissemination and use (such as: reports, publications, resource/curriculum development, tools for individuals and families).

* Coordinated and/or lead strategic planning or process consulting for organizational change using implementation science.

* Applies project management principles when working with more than one project at a time.

* Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse learning populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Preferred master's or doctoral degree in education or curriculum development.

* Knowledge of person-centered principles and the importance of utilizing them with students and families of all ages and abilities.

Anticipated Hiring Range

This position grade's salary starts at $58,573 however, we anticipate a range starting at $70,000 commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
